Abstract
Globally, nursing care documentation remains a major challenge, particularly in Indonesia, where variability and errors in practice highlight the need for evaluation. This study aimed to examine the relationship between nurses’ knowledge levels and their 3S competency (SDKI, SIKI, SLKI) as a standard for nursing care documentation at Prof. Dr. H. Aloei Saboe Regional Hospital, Gorontalo City. A cross-sectional observational design was conducted in inpatient wards with 116 nurses selected through proportionate random sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires assessing nurses’ knowledge of 3S documentation standards and their documentation competency. Bivariate analysis using the Kendall Tau test revealed a significant positive relationship between knowledge and 3S competency (p = 0.000 < 0.05), indicating that higher knowledge levels are associated with better documentation performance. These findings suggest that nurses’ understanding of the 3S standards is a key factor influencing their ability to accurately and effectively document nursing care, emphasizing the importance of education and training to enhance documentation quality.
