Publication Ethics
Journal of Advanced Multidisciplinary Education Studies (JAMES)
This statement of publication ethics applies to all parties involved in the publication process of the Journal of Advanced Multidisciplinary Education Studies (JAMES), including the journal manager, editors, reviewers, and authors.
The ethical code is based on the Head of LIPI Regulation No. 5 of 2014 on the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publications, emphasizing three key principles in scientific publishing:
- Neutrality: Publication management must be free from conflicts of interest.
- Fairness: Proper acknowledgment must be given to all contributors who deserve authorship.
- Honesty: Avoid duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism (DF2P).
Duties and Responsibilities of the Journal Manager
- Determine the journal’s name, scope, publication frequency, and accreditation (if necessary).
- Appoint members of the editorial board.
- Define the relationship between the publisher, editors, reviewers, and other parties involved through formal agreements.
- Maintain the confidentiality of information related to all parties, including authors, editors, and reviewers.
- Respect intellectual property rights, particularly copyright.
- Develop and communicate journal policies to authors, the editorial board, reviewers, and readers.
- Establish a code of conduct for editors and reviewers.
- Ensure the regular publication of the journal.
- Guarantee sustainable financial support for journal publication.
- Build cooperative networks and promote the journal.
- Manage legal aspects and necessary publication permits.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Editor
- Bridge the needs of readers and authors.
- Continuously strive to improve the quality of the journal’s publications.
- Implement a quality assurance process for all published manuscripts.
- Uphold objectivity and respect for diverse opinions.
- Maintain the integrity of authors’ academic records.
- Issue corrections, clarifications, or article retractions when necessary.
- Be responsible for the journal’s style and format, while the article content remains the author’s responsibility.
- Encourage authors, reviewers, and readers to provide input for quality improvement.
- Motivate authors to revise their manuscripts until they meet the journal’s publication standards.
- Support researcher education and awareness regarding publication ethics.
- Evaluate the impact of journal policies on authors and reviewers and make improvements when needed.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Reviewer
- Evaluate manuscripts received from the editor and provide recommendations regarding publication eligibility.
- Refrain from reviewing manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interest.
- Maintain the confidentiality of the author and the review process.
- Provide constructive criticism and suggestions to improve the manuscript.
- Reassess revised manuscripts to ensure compliance with the journal’s standards.
- Complete reviews promptly and in accordance with the established scientific guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Author
- Ensure that all listed authors meet authorship criteria.
- Take full responsibility for the content of the article, including methods, analysis, and results.
- Acknowledge all sources of support, including funding.
- Disclose research limitations within the article.
- Respond to reviewer comments professionally and within the given timeframe.
- Notify the editor if the author decides to withdraw the manuscript.
- Declare that the submitted manuscript is original, has not been published elsewhere, and is not under consideration by another publisher.
