Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

This code of ethics applies to all parties involved in the publication process of the MOBIS Journal: Journal of Management, Organization, and Business Innovation Studies, including journal managers, editors, reviewers, and authors. The ethical guidelines are adapted from the Regulation of the Head of LIPI No. 5 of 2014 on the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publications, which emphasizes three fundamental principles in scientific publishing:

  1. Neutrality – Publication management must be free from conflicts of interest.
  2. Fairness – Proper recognition must be given to the rightful author(s).
  3. Integrity – Avoidance of duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism (DF2P).

Duties and Responsibilities of Journal Managers

  • Determine the journal’s name, scope, frequency of publication, and accreditation if necessary.
  • Appoint members of the editorial board.
  • Define relationships between publishers, editors, reviewers, and other stakeholders in the form of formal agreements.
  • Safeguard the confidentiality of all information involving authors, editors, and reviewers.
  • Respect intellectual property rights, particularly copyright.
  • Establish journal policies and communicate them to authors, editors, reviewers, and readers.
  • Provide codes of conduct for editors and reviewers.
  • Publish the journal regularly.
  • Ensure sustainable funding for journal publication.
  • Build collaborative networks and promote the journal.
  • Secure necessary permits and legal compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities of Editors

  • Act as a bridge between authors and readers.
  • Strive to continuously improve the quality of publications.
  • Implement quality assurance processes for all published manuscripts.
  • Maintain academic freedom and objectivity in editorial decisions.
  • Safeguard the integrity of authors’ academic records.
  • Issue corrections, clarifications, or retractions when necessary.
  • Oversee adherence to style and format, while the article content remains the responsibility of the authors.
  • Encourage feedback from authors, readers, and reviewers for quality improvement.
  • Support authors in improving their work to meet publication standards.
  • Promote researcher education on publication ethics.
  • Assess the impact of editorial policies on authors and reviewers, and make improvements when necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Evaluate manuscripts received from editors and provide recommendations on publication eligibility.
  • Decline to review manuscripts where a conflict of interest exists.
  • Maintain confidentiality of both author identity and review outcomes.
  • Provide constructive criticism and suggestions to improve manuscripts.
  • Reassess revised manuscripts according to journal standards.
  • Complete reviews in a timely manner in accordance with scholarly guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities of Authors

  • Ensure that all listed authors meet authorship criteria.
  • Take full responsibility for the content of the article, including methodology, analysis, and results.
  • Acknowledge all sources of funding and resources used.
  • Disclose research limitations in the manuscript.
  • Respond to reviewer comments professionally and promptly.
  • Notify the editor if they decide to withdraw their manuscript.
  • Confirm that the submitted article is original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere
